Historic Falmouth

Falmouth has been a flourishing port for over 400 years and the historic natural harbour is the third largest in the world, providing a focal point for many water sports activities and the perfect location for the National Maritime Museum, Cornwall.

Falmouth has a long maritime tradition dating back to the days of the tea clippers and there are regular marine events staged throughout the season ranging from gig and yacht racing to food and drink festivals. Events include Henri Lloyd Falmouth Week, Falmouth Oyster Festival and Falmouth Spring Festival. The town is now a centre of academic excellence with the location of University College Falmouth. There are a wide and ever expanding range of small galleries featuring many talented local artists.

Falmouth also has several lovely and beautifully maintained gardens including Queen Mary Gardens and the Princess Pavilion with its listed bandstand and free entertainment on most summer evenings. There are also several gardens within a short drive including Trevarno, Trebah, Glendurgan and Trelissick.
